Set in Earth’s future, the novel presents an imperiled humankind who have barely survived two conflicts with the Formics (an insectoid alien race also known as the “Buggers”)who happen to be bug like. In preparation for an anticipated third invasion, an international fleet maintains a school to find and train future fleet commanders. The world’s most talented children, including the novel’s protagonist Ender Wiggin, are taken at a very young age to a training center known as the Battle School. There, teachers train them in the arts of war through increasingly difficult games including ones undertaken in zero gravity in the Battle Room where Ender’s tactical genius is revealed. Ender goes through battle school with his group of friends dominating the supposedly battle games. I won’t say anymore because I’ll give the book away.
I originally read this book in school and it was the only book from school where I have intentionally sought out its sequels. Ender’s game is a really well thought out book and well put together. I rather enjoyed it and recommend it to the book readers out there. I am about to read it’s sequal Speaker for the Dead, once i finally finish Brisinger fully. Again I recommend it so give it a read.
